Hard to say if there is a problem, other than hp seriously lying about the battery life. i purchased a pavilion about 6 months ago that isn't all that much different than yours, and while hp claimed a battery life of 7+ hours, all the professional reviews of my model (at least 10) claimed they could only get 2-3 hours out of it..
